Carcassonne

After a breakfast of raw bits ("it gives you the strength to get up and do what needs to be done" for you non-Prairie Home Companion fans) and a great croissant, we headed off to see Carcassonne in the day light.

The first stop was the

cathedral which was as usual stunning and amazing.  It is impossible to do justice of the cathedral in pictures. The scale and beauty are very hard to capture in 2d.

The gals decided to visit the myriad of

shops (think Manitou Springs on steroids) while the guys went to the castle which included a museum.

The picture below is a view of the outside of the castle wall from the other side of the wall. You get some idea of the scale of the building which was quite large.

We had great views of the city from the top of the castle.

There were lots of artifacts in the museum from Roman times onwards.

After a pleasant lunch, we left the Cité. A good time was had by all in Carcasonne.

We drove to Girona and once again had a bit of an adventure finding our hotel.
