Boston turns rainy

We woke up to a rainy morning. Cousin Deanne had noticed on FB that we were in Boston and we tried to find a time to meet, but it wasn't possible. We had a nice phone conversation (something we should probably do occasionally even if we aren't in the same city).

The day got better around lunch time so we ventured out for some Italian food in the North end and then continued on to the Charlestown part of the Freedom Trail.

The only site we saw was the USS Constitution, aka old ironsides. That nickname is not due to actual construction, but to its ability to withstand cannonballs. It is actually made of 25" think oak. I asked one of the sailors on board if it is ever taken out into the water. She said it was, a few times a year, but currently not under sail. They hope  to do that next year.

We were tired of walking so we hopped on tour bus and got a nice tour of the city from Old Town Trolleys.

After some more oysters and fish, we called it a day.
