Concrete Prep

Thursday during the day was spent finishing the plumbing in the lower level, prepping for the concrete floor on the upper level, digging out the sewer line to the septic system, and other assorted tasks.

For breakfast, we had fried rice (the Thais don't tend to eat a different menu for breakfast). But, they did serve us a beautiful piece of passion fruit. I took the plate into the sun and got this picture of it.

The plumbing is nearly finished. The lines that needed to buried are done. We still have some fresh water lines to lay out. And, the floor needs to be leveled out a bit. Then the bottom will be ready for concrete. In the picture the large risers are for toilets and the small risers are for showers. The pipes leaning on the bank are for fresh water (cold and hot). They will be buried in the concrete when we pour it next week.

We used the back hoe to dig out the sewer line. It would have take us a long time to did that by hand. With the back hoe, it took an hour to dig, a couple of hours to lay the pipe, and an hour to fill. We were lucky to have a back hoe to use and a couple of skilled operators to do the work.

After the dirt was dug up, I noticed a line of ants on a mission coming up the hill. I followed them and found them attacking a a grub. There were 10s of them biting the grub, which was still alive, and dragging him.

I'll ad a short movie later which shows them dragging it down hill.
