Musings from Caroline

Well ladies, the styles here in France are tights and long fancy tops and brightly colored scarves.  Or, very short straight and full skirts with no tights. "Skinny" is in over here too.  I had fun shopping for our youngest granddaughter's
(Annaliese) French dress today.

The hotels are quite interesting. It's been a while since we were last in France and I have forgotten certain differences. You never know where things are going to be, like how to flush the toilet (sometimes you push or pull the knob), or how to work the shower knobs.  The hot knob is "chaud" with a C.  The cold knob  is F "froid."

Also, the French are very used to tight quarters, whereas we Americans seem to enjoy our space.  It's not hard to get used to though, and quite nice.

I will be jumping around on various topics.  Chuck is usually typing and I am usually taking pictures.  Anyway, one of my favorite places to visit while here in France is Montmarte. It is near Sacre Coeur.

Being an artist myself, I can only imagine what went on here many years ago with the Impressionists.  I would love to sit and paint here with the other "want-to-be's."That's Chuck on the left side of the picture.

There is something about Paris that is so inviting.  I truly enjoy sitting outside at a cafe, drinking cafe au lait and eating a freshly made croissants.  (which have done every day since we arrived).

Before we left Paris for the champagne country, we went to eat at the Eiffel Tower, as Chuck mentioned in our blog. I usually don't mind heights, but going up as high as we had to go to get to the restaurant, really scared me!  Just about as bad as the cab ride from the airport!

I am somewhat particular about what I eat.  The other night I was served a salad with foie gras in it, plus some other pieces of meat.  I ate the meat and it was quite good.  Come to find out it was duck gizzards! I don't like gizzards! But it was very tasty the way it was cooked.  Chuck ate my foie gras.

I enjoy experiencing all that I can when in foreign countries.  Chuck and I try to use the limited French that we know (he more than I) I just know every day greetings.  But as soon as Chuck attempts the language, they speak English.
