York to Stockholm

Not much to say about Sunday. We had about a four hour drive from York to Heathrow. London traffic is as bad as any big city, perhaps worse. We got to the ring road about 2 PM and it was very busy. I'll bet a few hours later as all the Londoners returned from weekends in the country it would be a zoo.

Finding the rental car return place proved to be a bit of a problem. Missed a turn and ended up on an extremely narrow road that doubled as a bike lane. But, Geepers got us there after recalculation about a dozen times.

In UK airports and other airports in Europe that we have been in, you don't go to the gate area until just before the flight. So, we had a couple of hours to kill in the departure's hall.

You get a feel for the size of it, although there is another area just as big further down and lots and lots of shops and place to eat. One familiar site in the airport was a Starbucks.

We made it to the hotel in Stockholm just fine. We are in a GREAT spot.

A quick note about rooms. Here is a picture of our room in York.

Pretty basic, but it was only about $100 including breakfast for both of us. Our room in Stockholm is nicer, but not all that much bigger. The view is WAY better, however.

Panning from left to right:

We are off to buy some luggage to replace a suitcase that zipper meltdown. Then we meet Anna, Janna, Lisa and Märta for the afternoon.
