Beatrix Potter in the rain

Tuesday turned out to be a rainy, miserable day for most of the day. So, we headed to the "Beatrix Potter Experience,"

an exhibit about her work. It was aimed at children, but we found it to be interesting. It was displays of the characters in her books. Lots of pictures (really 3d figures), as you might expect, of Peter Rabbit. Jemina Puddle Duck and all the other characters were all there. The little kids were so cute to watch as they saw the characters. The picture below is a little girl getting her picture taken next to Beatrix Potter and Jemina Puddle Duck.

We spent some time walking around the shops in the rain and had lunch in a pub. Chuck had bangers and mash, shown below. Bangers are sausage and mash is mashed potatoes.

The rain quit, we thought at least, and we went back to Bowness to the pier area for a walk and supper. As we got into the town, it started to rain again, although not too hard. There were lots of water birds; this one was about 2 feet from us and didn't seem a bit concerned.

There were swans, ducks, geese, seagulls, and others that were clearly looking for an easy meal. We found our meal at a pub on the waterside where we had a nice view of the harbor and a good traditional pub meal. Chuck had fish and chips and Caroline had Beef and Ale pie. Pictures below, is the fish chips, the green dish is "mush peas". The description is apt.
