Paris, Thursday

Thursday started with a leisurely morning in Paris. Jeanne and Caroline explored some of the shops while Jon and Chuck explored some of the local area. We are staying in the Montparnasse area. According to the Wikipedia article in the link, famous artists and authors (Hemingway and Fitzgerald for example) would occupy a table at one of the cafes for long periods of time. Some of those cafes are still in business.

We stopped and had a drink at one of them (le Dome).

We stopped and got a sandwich at a local shop and walked to the Luxembourg gardens. It is a popular place to eat lunch, or to just sit and while away a few hours in the sun. There were lots of students in the park during lunch, and even though the language was different, the tone seemed to be the same.

It was a pleasant place to have a sandwich and people watch. These gorgeous French woman were particularly engaging.

There is a replica of the Statue of Liberty in the garden.

There are still lots of beautiful flowers in the garden.
