Two days of vacation

We left Chiang Mai in the morning of Thursday. Tom B. and I took a tuk tuk (a strange cab like thing built around a motorcycle) to the airport.

It was about a 15 minute ride and it was way more pleasant that being in the back of a pickup truck for the ride. After arriving in Bangkok, we took a van about 2 hours south to the coast where we all piled into a boat for a 20 minute ride to the Tubtim resort. (Click the underlined words to go to a link. The beach was gorgeous (as you can see from the top photo.

We swam and tried to stay cool until the evening. We had one burial on the beach.

We had a team dinner in the evening and enjoyed some relaxing time on the beach at night.

As an early riser, I went down to the beach to read and watch the sunrise.

Keith came down and went for a walk on the beach. When he came back he walked up in the perfect spot for this picture.

We took a boat ride to an island which was a national park where we snorkeled and relaxed on the beach.

I found this sign amusing.

It was a popular spot for outings from the resorts. I counted 10 boats there at lunch time.

We all fell in love with Aye and Dao, the young couple that are developing the camp. They have been married for a couple of years. They are wonderful people. They asked for our prayers.

Dao had never been on a plane before our trip from Chiang Mai to Bangkok and Aye had never been on big boat. Aye is a gifted speaker, especially to kids. They will be wonderful camp directors. And they now have the start of a facility that will enable that ministry.

We left the resort at about 7 AM Saturday morning and as of 10:30 Thailand time, we are in the Taipei, Taiwan airport waiting for a flight to Los Angeles. I’m caught up with the trip as a travelog. I’ll have a couple of posts of reflections from me and the team. Thanks for reading
