Taiwan.

We made it to Taiwan, in spite of a bit of uncertainty in Denver. I was tired of sitting and went for a walk. I noticed that our flight from Denver to Las Vegas was delayed for more than an hour. I found Tom and we discussed our options with the Southwest desk clerk. After some explaining, we changed our flight to a direct flight from Denver to Los Angeles getting in about 30 minutes after our original schedule. That flight got delayed about 35 minutes as well. So, when we got to LA, we have about 2 hours instead of a planned 3. But, with a bit of luck--the luggage came quickly and we caught a shuttle bus immediately--we got checked in and made it to our gate. That flight was delayed a bit as well, but we finally go on.

We had decent seats (although I had a middle one of three) and the flight proceeded without incident. Except, it was VERY LONG. 16+ hours in a middle seat is not my idea of a good time. And, it was dark the entire time as we chased the sun across the Pacific. We landed in Taipei just as the sun was coming up.

The Taipet airport is much like any other international airport except for the destinations on the board (see photo) and the languages.

The shops look the same, the products for sale look the same, and the hustle and bustle are universal in airports.

We are about to board our next flight to Bangkok where we have a 5 hour layover before another flight to Chiang Mai.  More from Bangkok if I get an Internet connection.
