Notting Hill

We decided to go to Notting Hill and see the market and the location where the movie was filmed. We weren't prepared for the huge crowds. It is a very popular, and very large market. We started by eating breakfast at little cafe called Charlie's. How could we not eat at Charlie's cafe?

Here is what I had for breakfast.

Starting at the tomato and going clockwise, mushrooms, bacon, baked beans, an egg, sausage, and blood pudding. There was also a side of toast. It was all good, except I wasn't a fan of the blood pudding.

The market was along Portbellos Street and we estimate it was a mile, or perhaps more, long. Shops on both sides of the street, and booths on one side of the street. It was CROWDED.

It was hard to move it was so crowded. Pretty much anything you could think of was for sale: antiques, old silver, clothes, records, CDs, fruit and vegetables, souvenirs, furs, toys, etc. etc. etc. It would not have been a place if you didn't like crowds.

The lead picture is Caroline standing in the doorway of what we think was the book store that Hugh Grant worked in when he met Julia Roberts. It is now a shoe store. No signs of Hugh or Julia. Oh well.

We finished our sight seeing for the day by going to St. Paul's cathedral. No pictures were allowed inside. Here is an outside picture.

We are off to see Billy Elliot on stage tonight.
