Stockholm

We arrived in Stockholm just fine and were picked up by Jan, Anna, Märta Arvidsson and Eva and Alfred Bökman. It is great to be back in Sweden. Our first stop was at Olle (Anna and Eva's father) and Anna's house where we had a wonderful brunch on the water next to their apartment building.

After brunch, we drove into Stockholm and wandered around the Södermalm district on the southern side of downtown Stockholm.

After parking in an underground garage, we came up the elevator and exited onto a square where there was, of all things, square dancing. And, they were dancing to "Rocky Mountain Music". It was a bit surreal actually.

Södermalm was full of interesting shops and great views of the city. And, it was sunny and very pleasant. This was a perfect way to fend off the sleepiness that comes from flying overnight to Europe.

A view over the water to the center of Stockholm. Stockholm is a beautiful city built on many islands. We stopped at Hermann's and had fika (coffee and something to eat (usually a pastry or something sweet).

We drove to Norrköping (sounds like, "nor shirping") where we had a wonderful supper prepared by Ulla (Anna and Eva's mother) and watched the Olympics as long as we could stay awake. All in all, it was a great day first day on vacation.
