Paris, Sunday

The food market we talked about yesterday was an art market today.

There were about 100 artists exhibiting their wares.

The art ranged from abstract to sculpture to hats (yes hats) to more classic art styles.

The artists were, as you might expect, interesting

people. The artist in the last picture was having a nice nap in the sun while waiting for some customers. Caroline got a couple of gifts in the market.

After we had looked at the market, we headed for the Eiffel Tower. We stopped at a cafe and Chuck had some lunch. I ordered a steak and frites, a traditional French dish. The steak is a hanger steak. On the theory that they cook meat very rare, and even well done is generally fairly rare, I ordered it well done. And, to my surprise, it was actually well done, or nearly, when I got it. It was a good lunch.

It was a beautiful day in Paris and the Eiffel Tower was gorgeous against the blue sky. We were 2 of many tourists getting their picture taken.

The tower is a marvel of construction. If you have been following the BLOG, you know that we ate at the Jules Verne to celebrate my birthday. It is on the second level, about a third of the way to the top.

The tower is an incredible structure when you see it up close.

We wandered back to the hotel and got packed for our return to the US.

Carol speaking: It has been a wonderful vacation. But just like Dorothy said to Auntie Em in the Wizard of Oz, "... there's no place like home!"
