Our last night at the camp site

Our last night at the camp area, we had a Korean BBQ on the concrete slab on the upper deck. It was a bit like a fondue or a raclette.

In the middle is a charcoal grill with a lip on the edge where they put a chicken broth and where you boiled vegetables and shrimp, etc. On the top was an are where you grilled pork, squid, and crab. Just like fondue, it was a wonderful way to have a slow meal and socialize. This is a practice that Americans should learn to practice (OK, off my soapbox).

At the end the Thais gave each of a bracelet that had been hand made.

It was a special moment. This is Jayla getting her bracelet from Dao. The evening ended with a komloy that Aye had made special for us. It was a quite a bit bigger than the others we had launched at the Bamboo lodge.

Before it was launched, we all wrote our names on the outside.

The icing on the cake

was due to Jon’s birthday which we celebrated as the night ended. After we had finished the cake, we said good be to our new Thai friends and headed home for bed.

We were so tired that sleep came quickly.
