Dresses and finishing up

On Wednesday morning, we needed to finish up a couple of things at the site.

In addition we had brought with us a couple of dozen pillow case dresses Made by people associated with Dress a Girl Around the World.Connie and the other women brought the dresses to the second Ahka village we visited (the one where Moses lives) and presented them to their pastor.

The rest of the team was removing forms from the concrete, finishing the screens, and fixing a drain pipe. When the concrete truck

backed up to unload the concrete, the broke a 4” sewage pipe we had laid. So, we had to did it out, find out where it was OK, replace it, and rebury it. Here i am sitting on the edge of the hole we had to dig. You can see how deep we had to go. And ,the clay was wet and sticky. Other people loosened it with a pick and then I got down on my hands and knees and threw out the clods  by hand. We found where the pipe was good, replace the rest, and filled it back in. And, we put up stakes along the edge so the next truck won’t drive over it.

At the end of the morning, we admired our finished work.

The lower section. The pipes for toilets, showers, and sinks which will be plumbed in later.

The upper section. The right half is over the lower section. This will be a meeting area. I will be covered eventually.

Aye and Dao live on the camp site. Here is their house. It needs some work which is next on the agenda for improvements.

We wondered who was going to clean up after the BBQ the night before. Here is the answer.

Dao is washing one of  BBQ tops. They were hard to wash because of the burnt rice noodles on the top.

last meal there, a shower, and then we piled into a van and a truck for a ride to Chiang Mai.
