The Boat

Before the trip, many of you asked what kind of boat we would be on. So, here are details about the boat and some pictures. The boat is 14.94 meters (49.0 feet) and has a beam (maximum width) of 3.2 meters (10.5 feet). It is made from steel and weighs 19,782 kg (21.8 US tons). We were told that we could cause serious damage to a fiberglass boat. The engine is diesel and has a fuel tank of 200 liters (52.8 gallons).

This is a picture looking from the front of the boat.

I stood on the very front of the boat to take this picture. The two small windows are in the front bedroom.

The back end of the boat with our name (Beziers). Jon is going down into the engine compartment to turn on a switch to allow the engine to start. We have to run the engine at least 6 hours a day to keep the batteries charged.

In the next post, I will talk about the interior.
