Villefranche & Mallorca, Nov. 16-18

We had two stops on the French Rivera—Villefranche and Marseille. In Villefranche we went off the ship and wandered around the city. In Marseille we stayed on board because we were both tired and had been to Marseille once before. Here are some pictures from Villefranche. It is a beautiful coastal city.

We wandered up to a citadel on the top of a hill overlooking the bay and the city. It was very old. and quite interesting. Today it is used by the city for administrative functions and there are a couple of museums.

Mallorca is an Spanish island, the largest of the 5 Balearic islands. The population of the island is 1.2 million. It is the home of Rafael Nadal’s tennis facility. Our first stop on our excursion was the Cathedral in Palme de Mallorca (the city where we docked. Below are 2 pictures of the cathedral. The area of the window on the right is 100 square meters (1075 square feet. Unfortunately we did not get to go inside to take a look.

Our final stop was at a very nice performance venue for a flamenco show. It was really good. We were served sangria and tapas and settled in for show. Here are still photos of the dancers.
