Denver—>Rome

The first leg of our trip was Denver—>Frankfurt—>Rome. We left Denver at 17:45 and arrived in Frankfurt at 11:00. Our plane to Rome left about 16:00 and arrived just before 18:00.

When we left Denver there was a beautiful sunset. When we got to Frankfurt it was cloudy. Caroline took a couple of pictures from airplane.

The Frankfurt airport is huge. Security was tight and there were lots of police. They walked in pairs and they carried M16 like rifles.

As we were landing in Italy the clouds had lifted a bit and we could see the ground; here are a couple of picture from the plane.

We flew 6,000 miles and we walked 3.5 miles (9,000 steps), in the Frankfurt airport and the Rome airport. Both airports are quite large.

After checking into the hotel, we went out a found a pizza restaurant and had a small pizza and some red wine. After that the bed was was calling and we had a good night’s sleep.
