Stockholm, Day 2

Children

On day 2 we took the hop-on/hop-off bus around Stockholm. It was a day with short bursts of rain intermixed with sun. I imagine there are a lot of days like that in the Baltic cities. We had a pleasant trip around the city enjoying the sights from the bus. We saw a group of small children with their safety vests on carrying small backpacks on a trip with their teachers.

At one point we hopped-off the bus at City Hall. We found a small cafe and stopped for what the Swedes call fika. There is not a good English translation. It is a coffee break but includes a cookie or a pastry. Chuck had rhubarb pie with a vanilla cream sauce (delicious).

Our original intent was to tour City Hall (where the Nobel banquet is held every year). But, when we left the cafe it was raining and a bus was waiting so we hopped-on and headed back to the ship.

The trip from Stockholm into the Baltic goes through the archipelago and is beautiful. I am sure the ship’s captain is on high alert because the islands are numerous and sometimes quite small.

That night Caroline danced the polka with Todd, one of the dance instructors on board. it was dark so the movie is not great, but you’ll get the idea.
