Arhus, Denmark

Previous

Our last port of call was Arhus, Denmark. Arhus is the second largest city in Denmark and has the second largest university in Denmark as well. Because of the university there are more younger people than normal in Denmark. Here is the view of the city from the ship.

We walked around the center part of the city which was picturesque and bustling with activity. We visited the church which is visible in the picture above. It was first built in the 12th century. It has a large and very beautiful stained glass window and a magnificent organ.

We saw a shop which was selling very colorful prints of animals. We went in to browse and ended up buying some cards and a couple gifts. Caroline was waiting to talk to the cashier and asked the man in the picture if he was waiting in line. He said, No, I am the artist. What a pleasant surprise. We had a fun conversation with him about his wonderful colorful creations. The poster he is holding is a collection of some of his work.

We had coffee and a genuine Danish pastry in a coffee shop in a department store much like Macys. It was a great pastry. I dont even want to think about how many pounds I/we have gained. The pastry helped contribute to that gain for sure!

As we sailed out of Arhus, we got a good view of the some very modern apartments and perhaps the biggest pair of sunglasses I have ever seen.
